Josh Michaelis, Certified Story Work Coach
Josh Michaelis brings a rare blend of kindness, honesty, and lived experience to his coaching. Trained through Restoration Coaching, the Tin Man Training Cohort, and as an Eden Project Facilitator and Chapter Leader, Josh has spent years walking alongside people who feel stuck and are ready for something more.
He especially enjoys working with men and women whose lives have stopped working the way they hoped. Many of the people he sits with feel emotionally, relationally, or spiritually stuck and long to show up differently in their marriages, friendships, and everyday lives. His coaching style is both deeply kind and surprisingly direct. Clients often appreciate his ability to offer compassion while also speaking the honest truths that help people move forward.
Josh came to this work through his own story. After years of living with shame, codependence, and disconnection, a few safe and courageous people helped him begin telling the truth about what was really going on in his life. Through that process he discovered something powerful: we are storied creatures, and the stories we carry shape the way we experience everything. When those stories are explored in safe relationships, healing and transformation begin to take root.
He believes real change begins with learning to answer God’s first question in Scripture, “Where are you?” In coaching sessions he helps people slow down, tell the truth about what is really happening inside them, and begin discovering a better story than the one they thought they had to live.
Josh is married to his wife Jennifer and proudly calls himself a 52 year old newlywed. Together they share life with four kids, two dogs, and what he believes is the best porch in Texas. Outside of coaching, he loves spending time with friends around a warm fire with a cold drink and good conversation.
